Poems and Art of Tang Dynasty
BY JOHN CONNELLY
The period of the Tang Dynasty was a time of much artistic and literal advancement. Two of the most famous Tang poets were Du Fu and Li Bo. Du Fu who lived from 712 to 770 wrote poems that showed horrors of war and Confucian ideals. Li Bo who lived from 701 to 762 wrote a lot differently. Li Bo who lived from wrote about friendships and joy, solitude, and nature. Because of this, both of these poets were the best and most important from the Tang dynasty. Also Tang artists reached new heights with Wu Daozi and his new Chinese paintings. Wu Daozi painted murals about nature. Some of his paintings looked so real that they thought he had magic powers which he used for painting. Chinese artists were also good with clay; the tang dynasty included very nice pottery figures. They made horses, people dancing and kids playing games for a few examples. The richer people of this time liked these sculptures a lot. As seen in the image above it shows a clay pot made by a tang artist, is found in the metropolitan museum of art. The Tang dynasty produced great art and poetry.
